As a hurricane approaches Quahog, Rhode Island, the Griffin family prepares for its arrival. In his own attempt to pass the time, Brian decides to use mushrooms, to the curiosity of Stewie. As the mushrooms start to take effect on Brian, he begins having hallucinations, and eventually cuts his own ear off. Stewie tries to help Brian by staying by his side and taking care of him (including sewing his ear back on), but Brian continues to hallucinate and perceives himself in a hell-like world where he is continually attacked by various monsters resembling the Griffins and Quagmire. Brian is eventually able to snap out of the hallucination before Stewie helps him down stairs to drink some water. The Griffin family begin living on a stricter budget. A local news story on the lottery influences Peter to buy a ticket in hopes that he will win and set the family on a better financial platform. Peter reveals to his family that he has bought several thousand lottery tickets, admitting that he has taken out a second mortgage on the house in order to buy them. After watching the results of the lottery that night, they discover that they have indeed won the lottery, and redeem their winnings. The family are unable to decide how they should spend all the money, though Lois states that she does not want it to change their lifestyle. Bonnie and Lois take a little trip to Paris, but Lois becomes shocked when Bonnie announces that she plans on having an affair. Lois tries to distract her with sightseeing and shopping but Bonnie insists on checking out guys. Bonnie explains that she and Joe had been growing apart but Lois intervenes when Bonnie draws the interest of a man, pulling her away and reminding her of her commitment to Joe and Susie. But when Lois returns from shopping, she finds Bonnie with François, another paraplegic in her room. Stewie goes back in time to mess around with Brian. Eventually, Brian catches him inside the time machine. In fighting over its controls, they are accidentally transported out of the space-time continuum, where the laws of physics do not apply and where the return pad cannot get them home. When her ninth husband leaves her, a depressed Carol talks to Lois about it over the phone. Later, Carol arrives at the Griffin residence, with Lois to comfort her. Mayor Adam West also stops by, initially to ring doorbells of all the houses in the city. Lois requests Peter to go pick up his clothes from a dry cleaning store. Peter tells her that he got his favorite white shirt washed by the cleaners, but when he goes to pick up the shirt, he finds out that the owner Mr. Washee Washee has lost it. This causes Peter to refuse to give him business any longer claiming that Mr. Washee Washee stole it. Lois steadfastly declines to find a new dry cleaner, and invites him to dinner. A drunk Tom Tucker appears on television, announcing a contest to win a dirtbike. Peter decides to enter the contest, in which the person who keeps their hand on the bike the longest wins. As time goes on, competitors continually begin to give up. Nine hours later, the last two contestants remaining are Peter and Mayor Adam West, the latter of whom is tricked into taking his hand off the bike when Peter sends him a text message with his free hand.
